Looking to update my girlfriend's StreetPilot c330. It currently has City Navigator NA 2012.30 that was installed on a 2gb SD card. This was a one-time update for the device. The Garmin site says maps are available for the device but when you go to the order page it has a one line sentence saying that it is not compatible with StreetPilot devices.

Just curious if it is possible to do a limited install on it which I did last time. Anyone know if the map format has changed since that last install for the c330? I know it is an outdated device but she really likes it. Jdove wrote: I figured the map format changed, not sure when since it updated in January 2012. I checked on ebay and I see a number of c330s for sale with 2015 maps on sd cards.

Not sure how they are working if it has an incompatible map format. Photokey 4 Pro. Your working 2012.30 map you have is an NT map so I too don't understand why it's incompatible. My first thoughts were the map you wanted to download were larger than the 2GB maps your girlfriends StreetPilot could read but that is not the case. When you go to the Garmin site and try to purchase any map it displays the notice 'This map is not compatible with StreetPilot® devices.' The only EXCEPTION is City Navigator North America NT: Canada only.

That map does not display the message Even a small map of Chile displays the not compatible message. This appears to be another error on Garmin’s part posting that message.

It should be only for the following maps which I believe are larger than 2GB: These devices will not be able to use the latest Full Coverage City Navigator Europe Map Update. These devices also will not be able to use the following products in the pre-programmed card or download format: ◦Full Coverage City Navigator North America ◦Full Coverage City Navigator Europe ◦TOPO U.S. 100K Download ◦TOPO U.S. 24K West ◦TOPO U.S. 24K Mountain North ◦TOPO U.S. 24K Northern Plains ◦TOPO U.S. 24K Mid-Atlantic Garmin site link for more information: If you use a North America lower 49 states only map, I see no reason why it won't work.

DorkusNimrod wrote: Seeing that error message at the Garmin site caused me to instantly think NT vs non-NT without even taking into consideration the current map used by the OP. If all one has to do is create a 2GB or under mapset, I see no reason why the maps wouldn't work. Thanks for the clarification and correction. As we well know it's not the first time Garmin has screwed up with it's specifications. In my golden years I'm becoming more and more forgetful, maybe Garmin would consider me for some part time employment.
